25 Lessons – Lesson Six: Just Ask

Such a big lesson for me that I ended up writing a book about it!

Be open, be transparent and be vulnerable. If people don’t know what’s going on for you, they can’t help you. Tell everyone that you are thriving when you’re not, and they won’t seek to offer you the help that could make all the difference.

This doesn’t mean telling everyone everything all of the time. But make sure you build a strong network of trusted relationships around you and be open to sharing more of the truth with those people.

The benefits are substantial. Not only do you open yourself up to receiving the help you need, we can also feel reassured when we find out that others share our same challenges, doubts and fears. We can learn from how our friends and colleagues have responded in the past and gain confidence when we know someone has our back or is holding us accountable for change.

You are surrounded by people who would love to help you succeed. All you need to do is just ask!
