“The striking thing about Andy is that he writes a book on networking that demystifies the process and shows you all the things you know you should be doing - but never really get round to. Then he surprises you by practising what he preaches! ”
Russ King, Product Manager, Monster.com

“Andy Lopata’s insights into referrals and networking should be taught in all induction programmes. Networking and referrals should not be thought of as another sales skill or tactic, but as part of the company’s values and culture. ”

“It was the best talk I’ve ever been to. Loved the content, pacing, delivery, structure. Your message was very memorable (imparting that much information can leave listeners forgetting what was said) and you managed the balance between substance, detail and memorability well. ”
Rebecca Aguilar, BBC Worldwide
“There are many motivational speakers on the circuit who leave behind them just a short lived glow and then there are the subject matter pragmatic, passionate presenters who can potentially change the long term way their audience thinks or operates. I’d put Andy Lopata in the latter category. ”

'...and Death Came Third!'

Monday 16th May saw our celebration of the publication of the second edition of '...and Death Came Third! The Definitive Guide to Networking and Speaking in Public' at Eight Club Bank in London.

The original book, which I co-authored with former President of the Professional Speaking Association Peter Roper FPSA, reach Number 2 on Amazon.co.uk on its launch. Out of print for three years, we have published the updated version with Ecademy Press.

Updating the book it was interesting to see just how much the networking and business landscape has changed in just five years. There were very few mentions of social networks in the original version. While they did exist, few people used them regularly and many people wouldn't have heard of Facebook, LinkedIn etc, while Twitter was just a megabyte in its founders eye.

If you're wondering exactly what the book covers, let me explain...

The launch party was a great success and twice oversubscribed, which meant we needed to have two sittings where former broadcast journalist Sean Brickell interviewed both Peter and I. We also had some cocktail making and great networking (of course!) to keep people entertained.

You can see pictures of the launch party here. Thanks to everyone who came and sorry to those who couldn't get in.

If you'd like to get hold of a copy of '...and Death Came Third!' you can buy it from our website here or from Amazon
